Nate and Laura, together, are the embodiment of amiability. Midwestern charm put together with New York cool. It's somewhat unreasonable, actually, yet altogether sensible why two people of such character would happen to bump into one another, decide to make a life with one another, and then bring together all of their friends and family in such an enjoyable weekend.

And, being that New York has just recently become one of my favorite cities on the planet, I was beyond honored to both make these pictures for them and spend a bit of time in their little corner of the world.

Ceremony & Reception: The Boathouse in Prospect Park

Prateek and Morgan's wedding was, and will likely forever remain, one of the most stunning, most colorful, most enjoyable, most memorable gatherings we've seen. Truly.

It was a multiple day celebration into which we were welcomed as family and treated as old friends. It was uniquely personal and classically charming; the food was outrageous and delicious (read: the MOST outrageous and ABSOLUTELY delicious); the culture was rich and the scenery was striking; everything was put together so, so well. These are the types of folks, and from a professional standpoint the type of wedding, for which folks like us hope and pray.

Four days defined by equal parts coffee, whiskey, biscuits & gravy, reclining and hiking.

These two right here are among my best friends in the whole world. We make it a point to road-trip somewhere mountainous each year, and this particular go-around took us to the smack-dab-middle of Arkansas - and quite possibly the most remote countryside I've seen.

Weeks prior we had happened onto an Airbnb cabin described as entirely solar-powered, using only filtered rain-water. Beyond that the interior was laid out around a great little stove, and the exterior was inhabited by seven resident hens. The property was situated adjacent to 40,000 acres of protected forest, which translated, to us, into unbeatable views, creeks, and hiking. No brainer - we snatched it right up. (Come to find out the cabin serves its owner - a writer, and otherwise just a real cool gal named Robin - most commonly as a hideaway in which to compose. Awesome.)

As I often go back-and-forth on my stance on documenting personal travels - sometimes I see things most clearly with a viewfinder in my face, and other times I experience them more potently with only a memory to serve me - this particular trip produced a whole slew of fond memories but only a couple rolls of 35mm film. It's been quite a whirlwind of a past few weeks, resulting in some of the best photographs I've made. I feel grateful to have been entrusted by these folks with such a cool task, and equally lucky to have been able to travel through such a gorgeous autumn.

A place eleven hours to our west that never fails to recenter us perfectly... provide us with amazing scenes at which to sit & look, make normal coffee taste just a bit better, and add a hair bit to our story every single time.

Wife, pup, the smell of pines, hiking trails, and four days of no plans. Just about right.
