John & Alex

One could reasonably inquire, "There's a lot of fluff out there in wedding world... what's absolutely necessary for a wedding?" To which I respond – in tandem with this set of pictures – by saying, "Not much... maybe a friend, your dog if you so choose, an officiant and some greenery?"

John & Alex threw caution to the wind and did away with a lot of the traditional wedding pieces in lieu of heading to Liberty Memorial on a Monday afternoon, making things official, and then setting out for a few portraits with a good friend and their dog in tow. I was lucky enough to not only document said activities but be a legal witness, and the entire afternoon was just delightful.

Hunter & Erin

I could throw a lot of the fanciest, most glowing words at these folks and their wedding. It was some kind of celebration in one of the more cozy, picturesque nooks of southwest Colorado; and most importantly it was perfectly, well, them. Hunter & Erin were wed in the late morning next to a creek just a short walk off the beaten path amidst their closest friends and family; lunch was served underneath the shedding cottonwoods; and lawn games were aplenty.

Henry & Emily

If we're being honest, we weren't quite aware that a dance party of this magnitude could be had at a wedding.

Chock-full of moments, this one was... and it served as a good reminder that blue hour portraits are never, ever a bad idea.

This Past Year — In Summary

Every year we say that it surely can't get any better; that the past twelve months were as good as it gets. But yet, to this point, we're fortunate to have always been wrong.

For us, this past year was a particularly potent and evident equation of the most talented players and partners in the industry, the kindest and most hospitable clients, the most supportive friends and family, some hard work and, admittedly, a fair bit of good fortune.

This practice of reflecting back on the past year is one of our favorites, and it always resolves squarely onto gratitude — so, if you're reading this, we undoubtedly owe you a heartfelt "thank you."

Here was 2017, in as quick a glance as we could effectively reduce it to.

Nate & Laura

Nate and Laura, together, are the embodiment of amiability. Midwestern charm put together with New York cool. It's somewhat unreasonable, actually, yet altogether sensible why two people of such character would happen to bump into one another, decide to make a life with one another, and then bring together all of their friends and family in such an enjoyable weekend.

And, being that New York has just recently become one of my favorite cities on the planet, I was beyond honored to both make these pictures for them and spend a bit of time in their little corner of the world.
