The Nitty Gritty

My approach to a wedding is largely a calm and candid one, focusing more on natural flow and less on contrivance. It’s a balance of being your supplementary wedding planner throughout the planning process, then ultimately playing fly-on-the-wall for wedding day — all with the exception of rolling in like your bossy aunt for a few necessary parts.

Ted Lasso said it best: “we can’t be good partners if we don’t know each other.” And that’s the undercurrent I apply throughout the process. In other words, the better I know you, the better photographs I can make for you.

I’m going to be certain that (1) I know what is – and isn’t – of importance to you; (2) I full-well understand your expectations regarding my role and the finished product; and (3) I’m present to help you with any areas that are causing headaches along the way.

On wedding day, with that in mind, there are a few key sections where I then step back and let your plans unfold (AKA simply document the whole deal in a photojournalistic manner): your preparations, your ceremony (and some pre-ceremony down time), your reception formalities, and your dance party. And on the flip side, there are a few key sections where I’m happy to step in and provide some direction: portraits of you and your partner, portraits with your wedding party, portraits with your families, and your first look if applicable.

Blancbooth

In short, we bring the lights and camera... and your guests bring the action. Blancbooth is a portable studio operated by a live photographer during your cocktail hour and reception. Think of it as a digital guest book of sorts.
